NICT And JVC Kenwood Introduce The World’s Largest Full HD Glasses-Free 3D Display Posted: 30 Oct 2011 11:06 PM PDT NICT has collaborated with JVC Kenwood to create a huge 200-inch auto-stereoscopic Full HD 3D display. What makes this giant 3D display interesting is that it can display 3D videos from 57 different angles without 3D glasses. Weighing 500kg, the display also features a condenser lens and a special diffuser film. The condenser lens allows the light to be focused to create a sharp image, while the special diffuser film creates a smooth transition between the different viewing angles. High-precision Eye Surgery Robot Posted: 30 Oct 2011 08:47 PM PDT Thijs Meenink from the Netherland’s Eindhoven University of Technology has developed a smart eye-surgery robot that enables ophthalmologists to operate with a higher precision on the eye’s retina and vitreous humor. The eye surgeon operates this robot using two joysticks with a haptic feedback, allowing the surgeon to feel any of the resistance put up by the patients’ tissues.
