Google enhances the search experience for iPad and other tablets

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 12:31 PM PDT

Google has rolled out a new user interface for Google.com to enhance the search experience for iPad and other tablet devices. These changes were announced by Google about a month ago and now they have officially rolled them out. Now when you perform a search using Google.com search engine, you will get a sleek and newly designed user-interface specifically designed for large touch-screen devices.

In this new user-interface Google has finally replaced the tiny buttons/links that used to appear in the left column (like they do on desktop computers) with larger easy to see and tap buttons for Web, Images, Videos, News, Books etc.

Apple has more cash than US Government’s operating balance

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 08:13 AM PDT

When it comes to stats related to Apple, they always boggle your mind. Now according to a recent report by FinancialPost, Apple has more cash in its reserves than the US Government’s operating balance. Apple has $76.2 billion in cash as of June 2011 whereas the US Government has a total operating cash balance of $73.768 billion as reported by the U.S. Treasury Department.

As FinancialPost notes that these figures are not directly comparable because “the government's number represents how much financial headroom it has before bumping up against an arbitrary debt ceiling, while Apple's cash reserve represents the pile of money the Cupertino, California-based company has available on its balance sheet.” these numbers surely tell us how powerful our beloved fruit company has become.

Cydia Tweak PasswordPilot remembers your App Store password for you

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 07:31 AM PDT

The tweak we told you about a few days ago is now available in the Cydia Store for download. PasswordPilot tweak for iPhone remembers your App Store ID password so that you don’t have to enter it again and again when downloading applications on your iOS device from the App Store.

Although it is very useful and as i noted before, it relieves you from the headache of entering App Store password every time you download an app, there are potential hazards of this tweak too. For example this tweak could bring trouble for you as well if your iPhone gets into wrong hands after getting lost, and a bad person could use your Apple ID to download paid applications.

To prevent that you would have to be very quick in wiping all of your data from your device using FindMyiPhone service by Apple.

PasswordPilot tweak for iOS is available in Cydia Store for free.

WTF item of the day: White “iPhone 4″ Air Cooler (Video)

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 03:07 AM PDT

Chinese manufacturers have created pretty insane knockoffs of the real Apple products, but this one is the worst of them all. As reported by MICGadget it can be called the thickest iPhone 4 in the world. Thank God it is not a phone but an Air Cooler that tries to look like an white iPhone 4.

MICGadget has written a full review for this strange Air Cooler on their website and here is what they have to say about it.

  • As we said, it's shockingly thick.
  • The "screen" is outrageous, it looks very similar to the homescreen of an iPhone.
  • As to the build quality – yes, it is plastic. The home button feels so much fun to press, and on the whole it just feels like a brick, but it's not heavy. It is even lighter than Apple's iPhone 4.
  • There are no side buttons, but it's nice to see a mini USB port and a status light at the bottom. And air vents on the top and the back!
  • It's probably the most interesting hand fan that serve a purpose while upping your geek-cred.
