EA: iPad is our fastest growing platform

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 02:16 PM PDT

iOS devices are already among the most popular gaming devices of the world and with thousands of gaming titles available in the App Store there’s no stopping. Now EA CEO John Riccitiello has said in an interview that now EA’s fastest growing platform these days is Apple’s iPad. He noted that there was a time when 80% of the gaming industry was based on gaming consoles, but that is now history and the future lies in new devices like the iPad.

"Consoles used to be 80% of the industry as recently as 2000. Consoles today are 40% of the game industry, so what do we really have?

I think that the pattern against which Nintendo is no longer resonating is over anyway. We have a new hardware platform and we're putting out software every 90 days. Our fastest growing platform is the iPad right now and that didn't exist 18 months ago."

EA has a number of titles in the App Store specifically designed for the iPad including NFS Hot Pursuit, Fifa 11, and many more. It is one of the most active publisher as well. They often put their apps on sale to make their iOS games more popular and secure higher overall rankings and after reading these words from their CEO we can say that we will see even more EA action in the App Store in coming days.

Alleged iPhone 5 silicone cases reveal thinner design

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 12:12 PM PDT

Folks at 9to5Mac have gotten their hands on a silicone case that is designed for Apple’s upcoming and yet to be announced iPhone 5. The case suggests that the next Apple iPhone will feature a thinner iPod touch 4 Generation like design. 9to5Mac says that they cannot confirm on which information the design of this alleged iPhone 5 case is based, they don’t know whether its design is based on real iPhone 5 design or it is rendered on information about a prototype of the next gen iPhone.

Another site MobileFun posted the above image earlier saying that this image is an iPhone 5 case schematic. This case looks very similar to the case revealed by 9to5Mac (see the first image of this post). According to this image, iPhone 5 will have a slightly curved back, a larger edge-to-edge display, and surprisingly a larger home button than the current iPhone lineup.
