Looking for something cool but not overly useful to do with your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1? Might as well check out the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9" retail mode that has been loaded onto it since Samsung saw fit to leave it on there. As you can tell from the video above, it's as you would expect -- just a demo video of what the device is capable of in addition to showing off the new TouchWiz UI. Here is how you can do it:

The long-rumored collaboration between the folks behindUnrEVOked and AlphaRev has come to fruition, and the Revolutionary S-OFF and Recovery Tool has been born. Devices supported include:
This is a different than root access, but it's no less important, giving you full access to the phone to load custom ROMs as you see fit. | Radio Shack memo says LG Thrill delayed until Aug. 21 Posted: 29 Jul 2011 02:20 PM PDT This just rolled in from a tipster, and it looks like you folks waiting for AT&T to release the LG Thrill 4G might have to wait just a bit longer. According to this internal memo from Radio Shack, the thrill has been put on hold until Aug. 21. The Shack will continue to take pre-orders for the dual-core 3D handset until Aug. 15, and those of you that already have yours on order should be getting word from Radio Shack about the delay soon. No clue as to why it's being delayed -- and maybe this is just for Radio Shack and AT&T proper will release it sooner. Or, maybe they decided to throw one more party (actually, Gameloft has one scheduled for Aug. 10). If you have any better theories, check out the hands-on and talk it up in the Thrill 4G forums! | Netflix offering 3 months of free service when you purchase an LG Revolution Posted: 29 Jul 2011 01:12 PM PDT If you've been planning on grabbing an LG Revolution from Verizon at some point soon, now is as good a time as any. Right now and up until August 28, Verizon, LG and Netflix have teamed up to offer 3 free months of Netflix service to anyone who purchases an LG Revolution for $199 from Verizon. After the 3 months is up, you'll be on the hook for $7.99/mnth but you have no obligation to continue plus - it sure beats their 30-day free trial if you're going to be grabbing and LG Revolution anyway.

| Leaked Samsung slider not the Galaxy S II after all, expect the svelte version we all know and love Posted: 29 Jul 2011 11:51 AM PDT Remember that Samsung Galaxy S II slider that we saw a few days back? Turns out that it likely isn't the Galaxy S II after all, according to BGR, who leaked out the original images. Just as we already reported, AT&T is now looking to release two new Samsung phones, one being the SGH-i927 with a sliding horizontal qwerty keyboard (pictured above, and mentioned here as well), and a more conventional styled phone that will be the Samsung Galaxy S II for the number two US carrier. While we still don't know all the details, the slider will be running Gingerbread and have a current version of the Linux kernel -- both very good things. We also know it will have a nice looking sliding keyboard, and offer another great choice to Android fans here in the states. We approve. Source: BGR

| T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide review Posted: 29 Jul 2011 11:28 AM PDT Times are rough for fans of Android and QWERTY keyboards. The top-dog performers seem to never have one, and the phones with great ones are are few and far between. I know I love them, and I can't be alone. When I heard rumors that the myTouch 4G was getting a Slide version, I was hopeful. When I found out it would have better specs that the original myTouch 4G, I really started anticipating it, and when HTC announced it would come with a much improved camera, I got a little excited. The real question is, how well does this thing compare to all the hype? It's the same question we have every time we hear about new high-end phones, especially when the new features get touted everywhere. Hit the jump, and we'll have a look.

| CyanogenMod team welcomes the Samsung Fascinate to nightly builds status Posted: 29 Jul 2011 10:53 AM PDT Anyone who has followed the Samsung Fascinate since its launch knows that it has been plagued with some update issues, and only just recently did it finally get Android 2.2. While there have been a number of custom ROMs for the device, it did lack support from the Cyanogen team, until just recently. The Fascinate will now support CM7, and nightly builds will be available for the device. So if you got a Fascinate, be sure to head to the source link, and get to downloading! | Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Gingerbread now ready ... again Posted: 29 Jul 2011 09:43 AM PDT Although Sony got a little ahead of themselves with the previous announcement of Gingerbread rolling out for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, they've gotten things back on track. Some of the first users getting the update notifications will be unbranded devices with carrier branded devices shortly following after. Once you get the update notification, you'll need to load up the PC Companion app in order to download and install Gingerbread but after that -- you'll be golden. Source: Sony Ericsson Product Blog

| Google improves search experience for Honeycomb tablets Posted: 29 Jul 2011 09:35 AM PDT If you've searched with Google through your Honeycomb tablet's browser, you have probably noticed that the process feels a little undercooked. Today Google announced that they've revamped the experience, optimizing browser search for those tablets running Android 3.1 and above. A new search button below the standard search box will organize results by websites, photos, videos, and the rest of the usual suspects, while image results will have larger previews, faster thumbnail loading, and continuous scrolling. Google says that the tablet revamp will be rolling out, with 36 languages in tow, over the next few days. Source: Google Mobile Blog
